Friday, or the day I discovered my allergy to highpowered narcotics

As of yesterday morning, around 9:50, #2 was extracted. WOO-HOO! I woke up around 10 am, only to discover that my I.V. had leaked on me. I was promptly moved to recovery and after waiting around for the appropriate amount of time to pass (really waiting for my BP to stabilize and O2 stats to normalize), I was released into my Mother's care.

Before my Mom could "retrieve" me, she was specifically warned that she needed to get my meds before we headed out of town and that I was to take them PRONTO. As we pulled up to the pharmacy, we had a conversation about whether or not I'd ever had Demerol, and whether or not the extraction of a single tooth required 18 Demerol.

We grabbed some broth (I was starving), and I ingested as much as I could (with 32 pounds of gauze in my mouth no less), and took my meds.

And now is the time that I need to apologize to Exit 285 in Cartersville, Georgia as that is the exact spot where I discovered I am allergic to Demerol.

Dear Random Gas Station off of Exit 285 in Cartersville,

I just wanted to issue an apologize for the spastic truck with Alabama plates that flew in yesterday. I would also like to apologize for flashing your entire patronage, but it was either me passing out in that long-sleeve shirt, or sharing all my goodies and not feeling the urge the purge.

It was my decision and I stick by it, but I'm pretty confident some of your patronage was scared... or scarred... again I'm sorry!

Thanks,
Jenn

P.S. I also may have thrown out some bloody gauze. Sorry!!

So to recap, I will no longer be taking any Demerol. I may question my physician's stance on giving 18 out for a lone tooth removal too. Or not.

Not that it matters, but my Mom had some darvocet that I could take and I no longer feel any urge to strip down or heave. Praise the Lord. Hallelujah. Drive it Home.

As far as I can tell, I'm good. I have a weird feeling hole on the right side of my mouth, but considering the alternative, I definitely made the right decision! I'm stuck to soft foods for the next two weeks, so the other clear benefit of having #2 removed?... losing weight. And having the ability to loose some weight around any major holiday is a definite advantage. I do look like a lop-sided chipmunk, but hey... I can live with that.

All my love, drugs, and nakedness,
Jenn
